After Australia’s coasts and the outback, New Zealand’s landscapes were quite the change of scenery. New Zealand packs a lot of variety and magic into its size, and I had a lot to photograph. Here are the shots that I think best do it justice, although of course it can’t replace being there in person.
Queenstown and Surrounds
Milford Sound (and the drive there)
Mt. Victoria, Wellington
Started as a timber plantation with imported California redwoods. Now makes for some great hiking with a cool nighttime art installation.
Geothermal Landscapes in the Taupo Volcanic Zone
We visited a couple different geothermally active spots on the Rotorua-region and they were all equally fascinating. Steam, crazy colors, and stinky smells abound! (Smells not captured. You’re welcome.)
Waitakere Ranges & Auckland Centennial Parks
It was a somewhat windy and cloudy day, but it only added to the scenery and the experience.
Fantastic wine and fantastic views.
Auckland and Mt. Eden
